Product Description
The PROACTIV® Fire Alarm Annunciator Module – Open Collector (FAA–OC) is used to indicate the status of assigned zones using open collector outputs. Typical usages include driving zone indicators (LEDs) located on a building floor plan mimic panel.
The FAA–OC is supplied as a printed circuit board that is connected to the Ancillary SLC of the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP).
Function
The FAA–OC consists of 16 segment dual open collector (OC) outputs that indicate the status of the assigned Programmable or System Zone, each of which may be in Alarm, Trouble or Supervisory state. For suppression zones, any stage of suppression (e.g. pre-discharge) can be represented. The FAA–OC also indicates if any of the devices associated with the zone are in trouble.
An audible buzzer can be connected to the FAA–OC and will sound upon zone activation or detection of a local device error. Upon activation of a zone the buzzer may be silenced using the remote Silence/Test switch.
Operation
The FAA–OC is connected to the Ancillary SLC of the PROACTIV FACP. The Ancillary SLC supports up to 31 devices at a total distance of 3000 ft (1000 m). The FAA–OC must be powered by a UL 1481 Listed external power supply.
Each programmed zone has two OC outputs. The Zone Active OC output indicates an active condition (usually alarm), and the Zone Trouble OC output indicates a Trouble condition on a device associated with the zone.
The Power OC output indicates the presence of 24 VDC power.
The Trouble OC output indicates a local fault with the unit.
The remote Silence/Test button performs two functions. When pressed once it silences the remote sounder. When pressed and held, it performs an OC output test and testing of the remote sounder.
